Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts
A revitalized Medvedev won his initial championship for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has had a torrid period, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.
His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.
Currently training with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents his first championship following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court since March of the previous year.
The win also means Medvedev has secured 21 victories at 21 distinct competitions.
"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters together, so to get a championship is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.
"This championship is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six finals, comprising in Halle earlier this year.
Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused some to question if his skill to play at the highest level was concluded.
But the player has made changes in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and compete assertively, backed up by an improved serving game.
He fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.
Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his initial ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to create a decider.
He saved 4 early break points in a tight final set before Medvedev broke to 15 to close out the victory.
Suitably, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet incapable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
